If you are a pet mami, then you already know your pet has an innate ability to reduce your stress. Even if you don’t know it explicitly, you know that they often bring you joy and companionship. That certainly can’t hurt when it comes to reducing stress. Studies have been done on the effects of pets and the health of their owners. One large benefit is when we pet our fur babies, our blood pressure drops as does our heart rate to healthy levels. In some cases, our fur babies force us to exercise more. If we have to walk our dogs or if we are playing with our cats, we are more active than if they weren’t around. Exercise has been shown to decrease levels of stress.
The emotional bond that we form with our pets is second-to-none. Some people form stronger bonds with their fur babies than they do with other humans. Think about how your pets react when you come home from work. They are always happy to see you. There is always an unconditional love, and they never judge you, unless it’s a sassy cat! But we love their sassiness!
They like to amuse us, too. This is why you see so many cat videos on YouTube. They always seem to have a high number of views, too. The comments that are often included are typically pages long. You see a bunch of “Aws” and “Isn’t that cute?”
Unfortunately, we tend to outlive our fur babies. This can cause a tremendous amount of sadness when we lose them. This is the main reason why many people bring new pets shortly after a loss. They need that emotional connection that they just don’t get anywhere else. Other studies have shown that people who have pets tend to live longer than those who don’t. Our fur babies also get the benefit of living in a loving environment for which, they return that love in abundance.
In conclusion, our animalitos can be a valuable tool in reducing stress levels for their us. The emotional bond that we form with our fur babies, their ability to amuse us, and the health benefits associated with pet ownership are all factors that contribute to a happier and healthier life. If you don’t have a pet yet, consider adopting junto a ti.
