By the time we reach a certain age, we get the point behind our New Year’s resolutions. It’s awesome to make real efforts to improve ourselves. But let’s be real, for many of us, making it past February 1st with our resolution still intact just doesn’t happen. So, how in the world can we make sure we follow through with and keep our New Year’s resolution and actually achieve the fabulous results we’re after? Here are some suggestions:
- Keep it real, specific, and doable, mija! Is your resolution something you can actually achieve? And what about your strategy to make it happen? For example, if your goal for the year is to lose a certain amount of weight, it may not be realistic to think you’ll do it by eating only 1,200 calories a day.
- Instead, how about setting goals like “Slowly decrease my calorie intake each week” or “Eat 3 fruits daily, one before each meal”? These goals are more realistic, specific, and doable, unlike just saying “Lose 50 pounds” or “Eat 1,200 calories a day.” So, let’s change our resolution or the way we plan to achieve it to set ourselves up for success!
- Keep that resolution on your mind! Write it down, stick it on your fridge, put it in your calendar, or even have it on a paper in your car. When you see your resolution every single day, you’re more likely to stay focused and actually follow through with it. So, let’s keep that resolution in our thoughts, amiga!
- Get your comunidad involved! Ask your partner, friends, or fam to remind you about your meta. They want you to succeed! So, let them ask you how you’re doing on working toward your New Year’s resolution. Talk to them about your struggles, plans, and daily wins. When you discuss it often with those who matter, you won’t be able to forget about your resolution, trust me!
- Start from the early morning! Set up your day so you can take a step toward your resolution right after you wake up. Mornings are when we’re fresh and full of energy, so let’s make the most of it!
- If your resolution is about eating healthier, have a balanced breakfast to kickstart your day like a boss.
- If getting more exercise is your thing, squeeze in 20 or 30 minutes of workout in the morning. You’ll feel amazing and stay true to your resolution!
- If your resolution is to learn something new, spend a solid half-hour studying in the morning. You’ll rock that resolution!
- If you need a wellness and health tracker, download our free worksheets! So, plan to tackle your resolution in the mornings and start your day feeling positive and successful. You’ve got this mujer!
- Be flexible and give yourself some love! Don’t stress if things don’t go exactly as planned. Give yourself permission to make adjustments along the way. Maybe dropping your calorie intake from 2,500 to 1,500 is too hardcore right now. If you consume 2,200 calories a day, that’s okay. You can gradually make desired changes over time. Remember, the more flexible you are, the more likely you’ll achieve your resolution at some point during the year. So, be kind to yourself!
Remember, sticking to your New Year’s resolution until you succeed is absolutely possible. Just follow these strategies: keep it real and specific, keep it on your mind, involve your comunidad, start from the morning, and be flexible. This year is gonna be your most inspiring one yet, so let’s rock that resolution, chica!
¡Vamos a cumplir nuestros propósitos de Año Nuevo y tener un año increíble!
